The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway (ECoR) organised a seminar in Visakahapatnam on Thursday to highlight the events carried out during the recently concluded National Energy Conservation Week.

The Division conducted extensive awareness campaigns, including displaying banners, posters, stickers, and taking out rallies with energy-saving slogans at various railway stations and locations. An exhibition showcased innovative energy conservation techniques adopted such as automated lighting for offices and residences, solar-powered street lights, energy-efficient BLDC fans, remote-sensing lighting systems, LED lights, and inverter-type air conditioning systems.

Speaking at the seminar, Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra urged officials to explore sustainable practices. He asked officials to move beyond conventional solar panels toward cost-effective solutions like timer-equipped LED lights and called for collective efforts to reduce energy consumption and optimise resources.

Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (General) M.S.N. Murthy gave a presentation on energy conservation, covering renewable and non-renewable sources, cost efficiencies, eco-friendly measures, and energy-efficient fittings implemented across the Division.

Additional DRM (Operations) K. Rama Rao also participated.
