Residents of Arasur Panchayat received an assurance from the district administration on Saturday (August 15) that measures will be taken to effectively utilise groundwater resources and protect rivers, lakes, ponds, and other waterbodies.
Restoration works will be undertaken in government buildings to rectify rainwater harvesting and drainage, District Collector Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar said, taking part as an observer at the Grama Sabha meeting as part of Independence Day celebrations
The District Collector also inspected exhibition stalls put up by various government departments, highlighting welfare schemes and services.
Village-level Vigilance Committees, comprising officials from the Revenue; Rural Development and Panchayat Raj; Health; and other departments, have been established at every panchayat to monitor effective implementation of government schemes, he said.
Discussions at the meeting covered topics such as drinking water supply; Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam (AGAMT) Phase II; renovation of minor irrigation tanks and lakes; Jal Jeevan Mission; and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (Watershed Development Component).
The discussion concluded with a pledge on HIV/AIDS awareness.

In Tiruppur, District Collector Manish Narnaware participated as an observer of Grama Sabha meeting at Elavanthi Panchayat
The meeting encompassed discussions on drinking water supply; Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission; community participation in development planning; and assistance provided through Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women.
The District Collector also administered a pledge for eradication of tuberculosis. Subsequently, Mr. Manish attended a community feast at Arulmigu Vazhaithottathu Ayyan Temple, Ayyampalayam, Palladam Taluk.
