The Kinathukadavu police have arrested a woman on the charge of murdering her husband with the aide of her relative and two others.

R. Indhirani (27) of Madurai was arrested for the murder of her husband R. Rathish (27) alias Deva, a resident of Nallatipalayam at Kinathukadavu.

Rathish’s mother R. Susila lodged a complaint with the Kinathukadavu police station stating that he went missing after a quarrel with Indhirani on the night of December 26. The couple, who got married four years ago through social media acquaintance, has a three-year-old son.

The police registered a case of a man missing on December 28. Meanwhile, Rathish was found dead with injuries on a railway track at Karur.

Indhirani, who is in first of the trimester, gave contradictory statements during the investigation by a team led by Madukkarai Inspector N. Karthik Thangam (in-charge of Kinathukadavu). In a detailed interrogation, Indhirani confessed that she conspired with her relative Vinoth (35) of Karur and his associates Suresh and Babu from the same place to murder her husband due to frequent quarrels arising from suspicion on her fidelity.

Indhirani told the police that Vinoth, Suresh and Babu stabbed Rathish to death at her residence around 11.30 p.m. on December 26. The body was transported to Karur in an ambulance and abandoned on a railway track.

The police altered the case to that of a murder based on Indhirani’s confession and arrested her on Wednesday. The police, who secured Vinoth, Suresh and Babu, were on the lookout for the ambulance driver. Further investigation is on.
