A 55-year-old woman was injured after crashing her two-wheeler into the median on Dr. Radhakrishnan Road while she was chasing a man who allegedly snatched her four-sovereign gold chain.
The woman, Rajila, a resident of Kotturpuram who works at a temple, was heading to buy groceries after work on the Foreshore Estate Loop Road. The police said an unidentified man, on a two-wheeler, was tailing her near the CSI Kalyani Hospital.
Sensing danger, Rajila attempted to speed away. However, the man came close to her scooter, snatched the gold chain from her neck, and fled. Rajila chased the rider but lost control of her vehicle near the Yellow Pages office, close to V.M. Street in Royapettah. She hit the road median and fell, sustaining injuries to her hands and leg.
She was taken to the Government Royapettah Hospital for treatment. In her complaint, Rajila told the police that the offender covered his face with a helmet and had been following her from near the DGP’s office. The Mylapore police have registered a case. They secured CCTV footage from the area and launched a search to identify and trace the suspect.
