A 60-year-old woman died and three others sustained injuries in a wild boar attack here on Sunday, the police said.
The police identified the deceased as P.K. Fathima of East Chathaloor, Edavanna. The injured are Muhammad Ali, Hameed and V.P. Abdullah.
The incident occurred when a group of people were on their way to a religious centre for dawn prayers and encountered a sounder of wild boars.
Ms. Fathima and Mr. Ali, who were walking at the front, were the first to be attacked, following which the wild boars charged at the others, the police said.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Ms. Fathima succumbed to her injuries.
The other three sustained minor injuries and will be discharged after completing their medical examinations, the police said.
Wild boars are frequently spotted in the area, and residents have often complained about the animals raiding crops, the police added.
