A 20-year-old man has been arrested on charges of sexually harassing a teenage girl at Sikkandar Chavadi on Monday (December 29, 2025).
According to the police, the girl, a first-year engineering student, was allegedly stalked by the accused, G. Virithis of Ambalathadi – who had previously attended a different college with her – while she was walking near the TNEB office in Dinamani Nagar.
The youth had previously expressed a romantic interest in the girl, which she had rejected, and on Monday, he reportedly approached her again, but she declined his advances. He then allegedly confronted her and verbally abused her. According to the police, Virithis also threatened to harm her with acid.
Acting on the girl’s complaint, the Samayanallur police registered a case against him under charges of attempting to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation, as well as under provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
