YSRCP questions Naidu’s 3-day absence amid floods, drought and protests

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) State general secretary Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi on Monday sought details of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s tour programme, questioning his reported absence from public view for the past three days when the State was facing floods, drought and protests by various sections.

Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office at Tadepalli, Ms. Lakshmi Parvathi said people in North Andhra were facing flood-related problems, farmers in Rayalaseema were affected by drought, and unemployed youth and DSC aspirants were staging protests over their demands.

She questioned why the Chief Minister’s tour schedule had not been made public and demanded that he explain where he had gone and the purpose of his visit.

Referring to Mr. Naidu’s earlier foreign visits, she alleged that details of some of his trips had not been adequately disclosed and questioned whether the Centre and intelligence agencies were aware of such visits.

Comparing Mr. Naidu’s foreign travel with that of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, she claimed that Mr. Jagan had disclosed details of his travel and approached the courts whenever permission was required. She also accused Minister Nara Lokesh and sections of the media of adopting different standards in their treatment of the two leaders.

Ms. Lakshmi Parvathi further alleged that Andhra Pradesh was losing investments because of corruption, demands for bribes and the alleged use of the “Red Book” system. She accused the government of failing to check the exploitation of natural resources, including sand and hillocks.
