A 10-month-old female leopard found in a weak condition along Kollegal Road at the Tamil Nadu–Karnataka border was rescued and treated by the Forest Department.
On Monday (June 30, 2025), local residents spotted the leopard and alerted officials of the Germalam Forest Range, who rescued the animal and transported it in a cage to the range office. A team led by S. Sadasivam, wildlife veterinarian of the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR), treated the leopard for two days.
By Wednesday (July 2, 2025), the leopard’s condition had improved, and officials decided to release it back into the wild. Sources said the animal would be released at an undisclosed location within the STR on Wednesday night.
