Widespread rains continued to lash Telangana for the third consecutive day on Wednesday (July 2, 2025), bringing much-needed respite from the scorching heat that prevailed in the month of June. Several districts across the State recorded moderate to heavy rainfall.

According to data provided by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 6 p.m. on Wednesday, the highest rainfall was recorded in Leeja of Jogulamba Gadwal district at 54.5 mm followed by 39.3 mm in Ichoda (Adilabad), 38 mm in Venkatapur (Jogulamba Gadwal), 31.3 mm in Srikonda (Adilabad), 30.3 mm in Menoor (Kamareddy), and 25.8 mm in Saidabad (Hyderabad).

Other notable figures include 25.3 mm in Tekulapally (Bhadradri Kothagudem), 18.3 mm in Bhadrachalam (Bhadradri Kothagudem), 17 mm in Bhupalpally (Jayashankar Bhupalpally), and 15 mm in Kummera (Nagarkurnool).

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for all 33 districts of the State for Thursday (July 3, 2025). “Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and strong surface winds are very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana,” the IMD bulletin said.

In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, for the next 24 hours, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky. “Light to moderate rainfall or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds, are likely to occur in the city. Hazy conditions are also expected during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 26°C and 22°C respectively,” the bulletin said.
