Chennai Bulls tallied 109 points for the top spot in the inaugural edition of the Equestrian Champions League, the country’s biggest show jumping league, organised by Equine Sports India Federation and Indigenous Horse Society, Tamil Nadu, at Equestrian Crest here on Sunday night.
Eighteen riders from six teams competed the opening round (110cms). They had to complete the course, within the maximum allotted time of 108 seconds, without dropping any poles.
Harshvardhan (Bangalore Knights), Dhruvrajsinh Vaghela (Quantum Reins-Goa), Lingesh (Pegasus Sports-Kerala), Amara Singh (Quantum Reins-Goa) were the few equestrians who cleared the course without dropping a single pole. This was followed by the jump-off session.
In the second round (120cms), 18 other equestrians competed to achieve a clear round as quickly as possible within the allotted time of 100 seconds.
Yash Nancy and Avik Bhatia (Pegasus Sports), Bharat Manohar, Surya Adithya and Harshit (Chennai Bulls), Nitin and Akil (Golconda Chargers) cleared the stage with no faults.
The top 12 equestrians from this stage moved on to to the jump-off session. Chennai Bulls did well right through to claim the top spot and went home richer by ₹15 lakh followed by Pegasus Sports (₹10 lakh) and Golconda Chargers (₹5 lakh).
Final standings: 1. Chennai Bulls 109 pts, 2. Pegasus Sports 97, 3. Golconda Chargers 73, 4. Quantum Reins 66, 5. Bangalore Knights 62, 6. Elite Equestrian 53.
