Academic education alone is not sufficient for true success, says Horatti

Chairman of the Legislative Council Basavaraj Horatti has said that academic education alone is not sufficient for true success in life.

Inaugurating the ISKCON Heritage Fest 2025 on the ISKCON Temple premises at Rayapur in Hubballi on Monday, Mr. Horatti said that an individual’s Samskara, values and behavioral traits are of great importance in life.

Emphasising the need for holistic development of students, he said that they should be encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities.

He called upon students to strive to transform any inherited negative traits into positive character through sincere efforts.

“Life is like a lamp and discipline is the oil that keeps it burning. Without discipline, the lamp of life cannot shine. It is, therefore, essential that children cultivate discipline during their school years,” he said.

Managing director of Swarnaa Group V.S.V. Prasad said that like carbon which transforms into diamond, children too will shine brilliantly when their talents are identified, nurtured and refined.

He said that the Heritage Fest provides a wonderful platform for children to showcase their hidden talent. And, parents and teachers should encourage them by providing opportunities to them to hone their skills, he said.

Councillor Rajanna M. Koravi appreciated the selfless social service activities undertaken by ISKCON and commended the organization’s dedication towards value-based education and cultural upliftment.

Hubballi-Dharwad ISKCON president Rajiv Lochan Dasa and others were present.

On the inaugural day of the cultural festival, hundreds of children from various classes participated in colouring, painting, essay writing and vocal music competitions.
