The Hebbagodi police have arrested a 26-year-old real estate agent who allegedly burgled the house of his neighbour and stole ₹60.4 lakh recently.
The accused has been identified as Nitesh Subo, a native of West Bengal and working in a real estate firm. He was staying in an apartment at Thirupalya in Anekal with his sister, who is working in a private firm.
Subo allegedly confessed to the police that he was in dire need of money for the treatment of his father and decided to burgle the house of his neighbour, who had gone to Dehradun for work.
The accused allegedly broke open the door and made away with gold, diamond, platinum, and silver valuables worth ₹60.4 lakh.
The incident came to light when another neighbour noticed the front door open and alerted the owner.
Based on a complaint, the police recovered the CCTV camera footage and identified the accused. With the arrest of Subo, the police could detect three house break thefts reported in their jurisdiction.
The accused has been produced before the court and taken into custody for further investigation.
