Irrigation officials have decreased the outflow from the Almatti dam after reduced rainfall in the upper catchment area of the dam, on July 9.
Inflow to the dam decreased to around 1,09,947 cusecs. This led to a decrease in the outflow from the dam to 1,00,000 cusecs from the 1.15 lakh cusecs on July 8. The dam had around 82.22 tmcft of water, or 70.86% of the full reservoir level.
Discharge from Maharashtra on July 9 was slightly less than July 8. Total discharge from Maharashtra at the inter-State border gauge was 1,06,453 cusecs, or around 640 cusecs less than July 9.
The Hipparagi Barrage had an inflow of 1,07,980 cusecs and an outflow of 1,07,230 cusecs. “As inflow is high in the Krishna river, the river is in free flow. Water is not stored during the monsoon,” officials said.
In a separate development, water had receded from most of the bridge-cum-barrages in Chikkodi region in Belagavi district. They would be opened for traffic by July 10, police said.
The Raja Lakhamagouda reservoir had an inflow of 17,692 cusecs and an outflow of 1,506 cusecs. The dam had around 41.28 tmcft of water against the full capacity of 51 tmcft.
The Basava Sagara dam on the Krishna at Narayanpur had an inflow of 1.15 lakh cusecs and outflow of 1,12,577 lakh cusecs. As many as 30 gates were opened to release water. Storage was 26.975 tmcft, or 80.98% of its capacity.
Inflow into the Renuka Sagar dam on the Malaprabha in Saundatti was 10,753 cusecs and the outflow was 194 cusecs.
