Liquor scam: SIT summons Vijaya Sai Reddy on July 12

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) directed former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijaya Sai Reddy to appear before the investigation officer on July 12, in the alleged multi-crore liquor scam.

In a notice served to Mr. Vijaya Sai Reddy, on Thursday, the SIT police directed him to be present at their office located at the Commissioner’s Office in Vijayawada at 10 a.m..

SIT Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), who is investigating the case, has confirmed this.

It was alleged that some public representatives colluded with the officers of various departments from 2019 to 2024, framed new liquor policy, promoted new brands of liquor and received kickbacks from the distillery companies causing huge loss to the government’s exchequer, he added.

The SIT police arrested about 11 accused in the case so far, and they were in judicial remand. Police attached properties, worth about ₹30 crore of some of the accused.
