B. Naveen Kumar, the younger brother of the Sivaganga custodial death victim B. Ajith Kumar, has appealed to Madurai District Collector K.J. Praveen Kumar to help his family obtain his brother’s death certificate, which is yet to be issued.

In his petition, Mr. Naveen Kumar, 27, stated that since the post-mortem of Ajith Kumar was conducted at Government Rajaji Hospital, the family had been trying to obtain the death certificate from the hospital administration. “Hospital officials are asking us to collect the receipts related to the death from the Thirupuvanam police station,” the petition said, adding that the hospital staff claimed they had already handed over the relevant documents and receipts to the police.

But he claimed that the police had not given the family any such documents. Due to this confusion, they could not obtain the death certificate from the hospital, and the delay has halted several documentation processes, he noted.

Mr. Naveen Kumar requested the Collector to issue directions to the authorities concerned to expedite the certificate issuance process.
