The second day of the Green Hydrogen Summit at SRM University-A.P. on Saturday saw the delegates discussing policies needed to support green hydrogen projects, investment opportunities, incentives and financing.

A series of plenary sessions with industry-academia interactions and strategic discussions with industry leaders, scientists and policymakers led to exchange of ideas on technology innovations, infrastructure acumen, off-taker options and funding and policy to promote the country’s green hydrogen journey. The panel discussion also explored the scope of fuel cells.

Director of Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI), R. Vijay, explained about the potential benefits of using metallic bipolar plates and the need to set up electrolyser plants to enable large-scale hydrogen production.

Ramesh Guduru, associate professor at Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), and Hairsh Jayaram from Hygenco Green Energies explained about the current status of hydrogen applications. Referring to the challenges faced by the industry, they stressed the need for selecting appropriate use cases, longer project tenures for cost efficiency and the critical role of storage and sea-port accessibility.
