After Hyderabad District Collector Hari Chandana Dasari called for U-shape seating arrangement in schools, Jangaon District Collector Rizwan Basha Shaik has taken up the initiative to make classrooms more interactive and inclusive.
Prompted by Malayalam movie Sthanarthi Sreekuttan’s seating arrangement to do away with backbenchers, government schools in various parts of the State have voluntarily rearranged the seating. But according to Mr. Shaik, all primary classrooms in the district have been restructured to adopt this modern layout.
“Education must grow with time. Our aim is to make classrooms more interactive, inclusive and effective. U-seating is not just about how students sit; it is about how they learn, engage and evolve,” he was quoted as saying, as posted by an official at the Chief Minister’s Office on X.
The new design also respects health and comfort. If a student experiences any discomfort such as neck strain, teachers are instructed to make necessary adjustments immediately, it clarified. Further, with digital learning tools enhancing classroom experiences, U-shaped seating adds another dimension to student success, the official post said.
“This initiative represents a powerful shift, not just in furniture layout, but in educational philosophy. In Jangaon’s classrooms today, every child matters,” Mr. Shaik said.
