Toll goes up to four in fireworks unit accident case in Sivakasi

The toll in the fireworks unit accident reported on July 21 at Andiapuram, near here, rose to four on Saturday.

The explosion took place when workers were handling chemicals at a private fireworks unit owned by Srinivasan. A major fire broke out, and while many ran away, at least 10 people were trapped in the blaze.

According to Fire and Rescue Services personnel, a man and two women died on the spot. Three others were admitted to Sivakasi Government Hospital. On Saturday, doctors said a patient identified as Mariammal died of injuries. Two others were under treatment.
