The Auxilium College (Autonomous) organised an International conference on conservation of coastal ecology at its campus in Vellore.

According to a press release, the conference was organised in association with Research and Education for Environmental Foundation (REEF). The conference was sponsored by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) under its Environmental Information, Awareness, Capacity Building and Livelihood Programme (EIACP) and Tamil Nadu Forest Department.

In her inaugural address, Mary Josephine Rani, college secretary, said students should inculcate a habit of conservation of nature even at a small level like watering plants in their neighbourhood. More greenery will help to reduce rising pollution, she said.

On the occasion, Arokia Jayaceli, college principal, A. Mary Agnes, Head, Department of Zoology, S. Ramachandraprabu, Program Director, REEF, and K. Muthukumar, Program Officer, EIACP, were present.
