The Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted searches in Hyderabad on the properties of the accused arrested in the alleged liquor scam. SIT police were probing into the multi-crore scam and arrested 12 accused in the case so far.

Multiple police teams were searching the offices, industries and other properties of the accused located at various places in and around Hyderabad on Saturday night (July 27, 2025). Investigation officers seized documents and other technical evidences related to the crime.

“Searches were continuing on the properties of Kessireddy Rajashekar Reddy, Buneti Chanikya and Balaji Govindappa, who were in judicial custody,” a senior police officer told The Hindu on Sunday (July 27, 2025.)

It was alleged that the accused framed new liquor policy during YSR Congress party regime, encouraged manual sales, collected commissions from the distillery companies, routed the ill-gotten money to shell companies and allegedly caused about â‚č3,500 crore loss to the government.
