A delegation of the Shiv Sena (UBT) party, led by MLC Ambadas Danve, met Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan on Monday (July 28, 2025) and demanded the immediate dismissal of “tainted” and “corrupt” Ministers and MLAs in the ruling Mahayuti alliance.
The delegation submitted a memorandum to the governor, underlining several incidents of misconduct by several Ministers in the State Cabinet and providing evidence of the same.
“We provided the Governor with a pendrive and other documents as evidence while demanding the resignation of these ministers,” said Mr. Danve after the meeting.
For the past few days, Maharashtra has witnessed a slew of controversies involving Mahayuti Ministers, including Sanjay Shirsat, Manikrao Kokate, Yogesh Kadam, and Nitesh Rane. The opposition raised allegations of corruption concerning irregularities in land acquisition by the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, the honey trap case, and insensitive remarks by Nitesh Rane and Manikrao Kokate.
Abuse of power
In the memorandum, the opposition claimed that the ruling coalition State Government has lost all sense of ethics, responsibility, and administrative autonomy and has been characterised by abuse of power, and a poor law and order situation.
The delegation cited names and offences in the memorandum. For instance, Social Justice Minister, Sanjay Shirsat has purchased Class 2 land in Sahajapur worth over ₹60 crores for just ₹11.16 crores. Agriculture Minister Manikrao Kokate was caught on video playing online rummy on his mobile phone during the session, violating the discipline of the Legislative Assembly. Police have allegedly uncovered 22 illegal bars in an operation, which were linked to a bar licensed to the mother of the Minister of State for Home, Yogesh Kadam.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) also informed the Governor about the honey trap case and the involvement of 72 civil servants and former ministers; they demanded an investigation by a special team.
Political pressure
The delegation also raised cases in which they alleged political pressure was brought to bear on the police officials investigating them. For instance, the murder of Beed sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, which involved a close aide of NCP leader Dhanajay Munde; NCP office bearer Rajendra Hagavane’s involvement in the Vaishnavi Hagavane dowry death case; and RTI activist Jamil Sheikh’s death.
The delegation, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders Anil Parab, Vinod Ghosalkar, Babanrao Thorat, Ashok Dhatrak, Vijay Kadam, Nitin Nandgaonkar, and others, argued that making leaders with tainted images Ministers was an insult to the people of Maharashtra.
