Delegation of Karnataka’s Upper House members to attend legislative summit in Boston from August 4

Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti will be leading a delegation of leaders from Karnataka to the legislative summit being conducted by the National Conference of State Legislatures at Boston in the U.S. from August 4.

The three-day conference is being attended by legislators from various States, policy and political experts, and Ministers from India, a release from the Information Department said.

Strengthening democracy, role of legislatures/ parliament, a political management of legislatures, and economic independence of legislatures are among the topics that would be discussed.

Those accompanying Mr. Horatti are Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council M.K. Pranesh, Minor Irrigation Minister N.S. Boseraju, Leader of Opposition in the Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Opposition Chief Whip N. Ravikumar, Government Chief Whip Saleem Ahmed, MLCs Bharathi Shetty, Bilkis Bano, Hemalatha Nayak, and Manjunath Bhandary.
