
Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren passed away on Monday (August 4, 2025)

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conveyed his condolences over the death of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren on Monday (August 4, 2025). Stating that he relentlessly worked to resolve issues of tribal communities and a separate Jharkhand State, Mr. Reddy said that the former Chief Minister always stood in support of a separate Telangana State movement. Shibu Soren served as a Lok Sabha MP eight times, two times as Rajya Sabha MP and Chief Minister.
Former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K. Chandrashekar Rao recalled that Shibu Soren was the first guest to be invited for the first meeting held on the occasion of establishing Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now BRS). Mr. Rao said that Shibu Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which was in alliance with United Progressive Alliance (UPA) during the movement for the separate State, played a key role in mounting pressure for formation of Telangana.
Mr. Reddy, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha, Mr. Rao and other leaders from Telangana conveyed their condolences to Shibu Soren’s son and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and family members.
