England captain Ben Stokes, who missed The Oval Test, lauded India’s efforts in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy and admitted that 2-2 is probably a fair outcome of such a compelling five-match series.
“The series as a whole was just all games going to five days. It’s been toe-to-toe for 25 days and two very good teams who have thrown everything at each other and leaving nothing out there. I guess from a cricket fan’s point of view, 2-2 is probably fair,” Stokes said on Monday (August 4, 2025).

“Obviously, we are disappointed to have not got the result that we wanted to give us a series win. There’s that disappointment and a little bit of frustration there as well from everyone,” said the England skipper.
Stokes also made it clear that such a series is a huge boost to the longest format of the game.
“This has certainly been one of those series that can hopefully stop that narrative about Test cricket dying. We are disappointed from a playing point of view, but as an advocate of the game, the series has been fantastic to be part of,” Stokes added.
