Former Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, on Tuesday (August 5, 2025), criticised the DMK over the reported lack of dentists in multiple State government-run dental hospitals in Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Panneerselvam contended that the dentists on duty were finding the burden too high: “It is the DMK’s mistake of not having conducted exams to recruit dentists on a regular basis. It is unjust to punish those dentists who are in the hospitals, for the mistake of the DMK.”
In a statement, Mr. Panneerselvam urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to fill up the vacancies in the State-run dental colleges through recruitment by the Medical Services Recruitment Board. He also urged against scaling down staff in these colleges.
Mr. Panneerselvam also insisted that these dentists be promoted on a time scale. Pointing out the increasing number of patients to dental hospitals, the former CM also urged creation of new vacancies depending on the requirement.
