
New Ernakulam Collector G. Priyanka takes charge from outgoing Collector N.S.K. Umesh on Thursday.

G. Priyanka assumed charge as the new District Collector of Ernakulam. She took over charge from outgoing Collector N.S.K. Umesh, who has been transferred as the Director of General Education.
Ms. Priyanka is the third woman, the other two being M. Beena and Renu Raj, to hold the post of the Ernakulam District Collector. She has been serving as the Palakkad District Collector.
Earlier assignments
A native of Karnataka, Ms. Priyanka is a 2017 batch IAS officer. She had earlier served as Kozhikode Subcollector and Director of Social Justice and Women and Child Development. An engineering graduate, she also holds postgraduate degrees in public management and public administration.
Ms. Priyanka was received at the civil station by a delegation led by Assistant Collector Parvathy Gopakumar and Additional District Magistrate Vinod Raj.
Cooperation sought
In her maiden message, Ms. Priyanka said that she would strive towards fulfilling both the State and Union governments’ priority projects and addressing the problems faced by the people. He sought the cooperation of all people’s representatives, her colleagues and the people.
Earlier, Mr. Umesh thanked everyone for the support extended during his stint. He was given a farewell by civil station employees recently.
