Govt employee kidnapped – The Hindu

A 26-year-old government officer was allegedly abducted under the Alluri Sitharama Raju district police limits on Thursday. Police confirmed the incident, saying that the abduction was reported on August 7, and involves Soyam Sri Soumya, daughter of Malludora, a native of Narsapuram village, Rampachodavaram mandal. Soumya is currently employed as a Welfare Assistant at Sarabhavaram in the district.

According to the complaint, Soumya was allegedly abducted by Kasimkota Anil Kumar, a resident of Vetukuru village, Maredumilli mandal, along with the help of several accomplices. The abductors reportedly used a grey-coloured Innova Crysta having registration number—AP31 TJ 1462 to carry out the act.

Speaking to The Hindu, ASR superintendent of police Amit Bardar said “Yes, she was taken by persons known to her. Our team is on the job to apprehend them. “

Incidentally, both the individuals were previously involved in a similar incident on 21 October 2024, initially registered as a woman missing case at the Devipatnam police station. Investigations later revealed it to be a case of ‘mutual elopement’ as they faced opposition from their families. The couple were eventually traced to Chitrakonda, Odisha.

Police have launched a comprehensive investigation including scrutiny of CCTV footage from all relevant locations including Sarabhavaram, Maredumilli, and transit routes. Check-posts across the subdivision and border areas have been alerted to intercept the vehicle used for abduction. Search operations are underway in the native villages of both, the victim and the accused. Additionally, police teams are exploring previously visited locations and known associates of the accused. Details of the vehicle and accused have been shared with all nearby police stations for wider coordination.

“The case is being investigated thoroughly to ascertain the facts, including whether it is a case of abduction or voluntary elopement as in the previous instance. When contacted, ASR collector Dinesh Kumar said, “Yes I am pursuing with SP. We traced the vehicle in Rajahmundry, but yet to trace the girl and kidnaper.”
