Nissan has introduced the new Kuro Special Edition of the Magnite, bringing a distinctive character to its popular compact SUV. As the name suggests — “Kuro” being the Japanese word for black — the edition is centred around a full-black aesthetic upgrade, aimed at buyers looking for a more premium and aggressive look.

The cabin continues the blacked-out theme with a dark dashboard, piano black accents on the gear shift and steering, and black door trims and sun visors.

The Kuro Edition is available with both 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. There are no mechanical changes; the focus is entirely on styling and feature enhancements. Key design elements such as the grille, front and rear skid plates, roof rails, door handles, and 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are all finished in gloss black. The new variant also features a dedicated ‘Kuro’ badge positioned just below the Magnite branding on the fender.

Lighting updates include Signature Black LED headlamps with integrated Lightsaber-style turn indicators, giving the front profile a sharper visual presence. Inside, the cabin continues the blacked-out theme with a dark dashboard, piano black accents on the gear shift and steering insert, and blacked-out door trims and sun visors. Feature enhancements include a Sable Black wireless charger, an Advanced Driver Assist Display, and the option of a stealth dash cam as an accessory. The Kuro variant is based on the CMF-A+ platform and includes premium equipment like the Premium i-Key system with Walk Away Lock and Approach Unlock functionality.

The SUV’s body structure uses over 67 percent high-tensile strength steel, enhancing crash protection and overall structural integrity.

The launch of the Kuro Edition follows the Magnite’s recent achievement of a 5-star overall safety rating from Global NCAP. Reinforcing its safety credentials, the model comes with over 40 standard safety features, including six airbags, ESC, traction control, hill start assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, and TPMS. Additionally, he SUV’s body structure incorporates more than 67% high-tensile strength steel to further enhance crash protection.

The Magnite continues to be Nissan India’s core product and remains its only high-volume model. With the Kuro Edition, the company aims to sustain interest and keep the SUV competitive in a crowded segment. However, Nissan’s long-term success in India will depend on whether it can diversify its portfolio beyond a single product. For now, the Kuro Edition adds a layer of exclusivity to what remains the brand’s most important offering in the market.

With the Kuro Edition, Nissan aims to maintain momentum and keep the Magnite competitive in a densely populated SUV segment.
