Car stolen from roadside, sold off on online platform

A car which was parked on the roadside was stolen by a duo in Vyasarpadi and sold on an online platform meant for selling used vehicles.

According to police, Rafel, 63 of Vyasarpadi runs a workshop for motor vehicles near his house. Ten days ago, one Rani, 60, gave her used car for repair works with the mechanic. The car was parked on AA Roa and the mechanic found that the parked car was missing. Hence he lodged a complaint with the police alleging that someone had stolen the car. Based on his complaint, police arrested one Aravindh, 20 of Vepur, Cuddalore district.

Further interrogation revealed that Pradeep Raja took a picture of the car parked on the roadside and posted it for sale on OLX platform. Aravindh, a dealer of used cars, approached Pradeep Raja over the phone and agreed to buy the car for ₹1.25 lakh which had no documents or a key. Aravindh gave the sale amount and took the car using a recovery vehicle which was also taken on rent.

Police recovered the car from Aravindh’s place and also are searching for prime suspect Pradeep Raja.
