The Forgery Investigation Wing of Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested six persons who allegedly cheated over 100 people after receiving money for allotment of flats in Tamil Nadu Habitat Development Board and giving fake allotment orders.
Muthulakshmi of Anna Nagar lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Baranidharan, Rohini Priya, Abdul Naser and a few others promised to get them allotment of flats. They took ₹3.5 lakh from each of the applicants under the pretext of getting the allotment and cheated them by providing fake allotment orders with fake seals. The case was investigated by the Forgery Investigation Wing of CCB.
On Thursday, the police arrested four persons — Baranidharan, 46, and B. Revathi, 40, of Ayanavaram; Rohini Priya, 49, of Chetpet; and Abdul Nasar, 40, of GKM Colony. Based on their confession, the police arrested key suspects — Gajendran, 38, and his wife Chamundeshwari, 39, of Ambattur.
The investigation revealed that Gajendran, claiming to be influential among government officials, had cheated over 200 people after receiving ₹5 crore under the pretext of obtaining allotment of flats.
