Five persons have been arrested by the Devipatnam police in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district for abducting a Welfare and Education Assistant after she rejected a marriage proposal from the prime accused.
On August 7, a gang of seven led by Kasimkota Anil Kumar forcibly took Soyam Sri Soumya in a car from the Sarabhavaram Gram Panchayat Secretariat. Within three hours, police rescued the victim near Gurthedu and arrested Anil Kumar along with one accomplice.
“Anil Kumar abducted the victim for rejecting his marriage proposal. Five of the seven persons involved have now been arrested,” said Rampachodavaram DSP G. Sai Prasanth. Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the remaining two accused still at large.
