U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday (August 11, 2025) that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin this Friday (August 15, 2025) in Alaska will be a “feel-out meeting” aimed at urging Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

“So I’m going in to speak to Vladimir Putin, and I’m going to be telling him, you’ve got to end this war. You’ve got to end it,” Mr. Trump told reporters.

Mr. Trump also said a future meeting could include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
