The recent stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory celebrations in front of M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru that claimed 11 lives is set to be discussed in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, as Speaker U.T. Khader has permitted the BJP to debate the issue.

The BJP sought permission to debate the issue through an adjournment motion that has a censuring clause. However, Home Minister G. Parameshwara observed that it was better to prevent any discussion on this particular issue as it was before the court.

However, the Speaker allowed the BJP to take up a debate on the issue under a non censuring clause.

Earlier, the BJP and the JD(S) legislators staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the premises of the Vidhana Soudha before the commencement of the legislature session, accusing the government of being irresponsible.
