A purported video showing a clash between a group of animal rights activists and lawyers near a court in Delhi during a demonstration against a Supreme Court order on stray dogs went viral on Wednesday.
In the purported video, which The Hindu could not verify, a lawyer could be seen slapping and manhandling a protester.
The demonstration began peacefully, but tensions flared when a few lawyers confronted the demonstrators, leading to a scuffle between the two sides, said a senior Delhi Police officer.
Another police officer said the incident took place on Monday after the Supreme Court delivered its judgment on the relocation of stray dogs.
“We have not received any complaint from either party so far,” he said.
