At least eight persons were injured, including one in critical condition, in a suspected cylinder blast at Wilson Garden in Adugodi area in southeastern Bengaluru on August 15, police said. The critically injured person is a minor boy. All the injured have been taken to a nearby hospital.
The incident occurred around 8.20 a.m. in a small house within a compact settlement at Chinnaiahnapalya. At least three makeshift houses in the cluster collapsed due to the force of the blast. Police cordoned off the area while the Fire and Emergency Services Department personnel were clearing the debris.
“Preliminary investigations indicate a cylinder blast. The inquiry is underway. Debris clearance is in progress,” a Fire Department source told The Hindu.
Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sarah Fathima, visited the site.
