The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for five Telangana districts for Sunday (August 17, 2025) followed by an orange alert in nine districts and a yellow alert in 11 districts.
Red alert
According to IMDs latest bulletin, a red alert, indicating the likelihood of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall was issued for Bhadradri Kothagudem, Hanumakonda, Mahabubabad, Mulugu and Warangal districts.
Orange alert
An orange alert, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall was issued for Adilabad, Jangaon, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Khammam, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Siddipet and Suryapet districts.
Yellow alert
A yellow alert, indicating heavy rainfall was issued for Jagtial, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Yadadri Bhongir districts.
Additionally, thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds are very likely to occur in isolated parts of all 33 districts in the State.

Hyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see generally cloudy sky. “Moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers with intense spells at times accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in the city. Misty conditions are very likely to prevail during morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29C and 22C respectively,” the bulletin said.
