Two trains diverted following landslips in Karnataka’s Sakleshpur

The South Western Railway diverted two trains on Saturday following multiple landslips between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road stations due to heavy rains.

The tracks were inundated and piles of soil and boulders fell on the track due to landslips. The officers rushed to the spot to clear the tracks.

According to a communication from the South Western Railway, the two trains, MAQ-BJP TOD Express Special (07378) — Mangaluru Central to Vijayapura; and MRDW-SMVB Express (16586) — Murudeshwara to Bengaluru; have been diverted.

The Mangaluru Central-Vijayapura train will travel via Thokur-Karwar-Madgaon, Londa ,and Hubballi, while the Murudeshwara-Bengaluru train will travel via Kasargod, Shoranur, Pallakad, Salem, and Jolarpet.

Works for the restoration of tracks is under way. The trains had been diverted as a precautionary measure, an official stated.
