SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT
MP for Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Kota Srinivas Poojary on Saturday instructed the national highways division of the State Public Works Department to throw open the additional Railway Over Bridge (RoB) to traffic from September 15.
The RoB is under construction at Indrali in Udupi on Malpe-Tirthahalli national highway 169-A.
Chairing a review meeting on the progress of national highway development projects in Udupi district, Mr. Poojary asked the officials of the division to complete the pending works at the earliest.
He instructed the officials to commence the road-widening works between Karavali Junction and Malpe on the same highway in September. The compensation to those whose lands were acquired for the project should be given by then, he said.
Mr. Poojary instructed the officials to repair potholes between Karavali Junction and Malpe before commencing the works.
MLA for Udupi Yashpal Suvarna told the officials to make arrangements for traffic diversion and resume the pending road-widening works at Parkala on the same highway at the earliest.
In response, T.K. Swaroopa, Deputy Commissioner of Udupi, said that an order has been issued to divert the traffic. But before resuming the pending works, a temporary road on the side of the highway at Parkala should be constructed to divert the traffic, she said.
