A massive water tank collapsed at Eranhiparambu in Kozhikode, Kerala, around 1 a.m. on Monday, flooding the courtyards of two nearby houses and damaging the vehicles parked on the premises.

One of the concrete walls of the square-shaped tank gave way, producing a loud noise that alerted local residents.

The 30-year-old water tank, with a capacity of 50,000 litres, supplied water to around 120 houses. Its collapse is likely to further worsen the severe water shortage already faced in the area.
