Show cause notice issued to a political party in Tiruppur for not contesting in any election since 2019

As instructed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to delist the registration of registered unrecognised political parties that have not contested any elections in the past six years since 2019, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tamil Nadu, has served a show cause notice on ‘Super Stars Makkal Kalagam’, asking for an explanation. The office-bearer of the political party is required to appear in person at the CEO’s office in Chennai on or before August 26 and offer remarks for failure to contest in the past elections since 2019. After completion of enquiry, the CEO will send a report to the ECI, which will then issue its final order, a press release issued by the Tiruppur district administration said.
