The Vidhana Soudha Police have arrested two people for allegedly flying a drone outside the Karnataka High Court in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The incident came to light when the High Court security noticed the drone in the high-security zone, and alerted the control room. The police control room, in turn, informed the Hoysala patrolling vehicle on rounds. Assistant Sub Inspector Srinivas D.B. and his collegue rushed to the spot and noticed that the drone was being operated by two men in a bid to video-record the Vidhan Soudha premises for their social media account.

The police registered a case against the accused duo, Vishal and Rohith, under Sections 125 (acts endangering life or personal safety of others) and 289 (negligent conduct with respect to machinery) of the BNS.

They told the police that they wanted to get a better view of the illuminated Vidhan Soudha for their video. “The two have been questioned, and we have recorded their statement before releasing them on station bail,” said an officer.

The area is considered a high-security zone, housing key installations including the High Court, Vidhan Soudha,Governor’s residence, and GPO among other government offices. It is a no-flying zone, and any kind of unauthorised shooting of videos or flying drones has been prohibited.
