Congress gains majority in Kadaba Town Panchayat

The Congress registered victory in the recently held first-ever elections to the Kadaba Town Panchayat in Dakshina Kannada by winning eight out of 13 seats.

The elections were held on August 17 after Kadaba became a taluk headquarter. Hitherto, the town in the erstwhile Sullia taluk was administered by a gram panchayat.

Counting of votes took place on Wednesday. The Bharatiya Janata Party candidates won five seats. Sullia Assembly segment has been a stronghold of the BJP for many years.

The Congress candidates who won the elections include Tamanna Jabin, Mohammed Faizal, C.J. Simon, Muhammed Hanief, Neelavathi Shivarama, P.J. Rohith, Krishnappa Poojary, and Krishnappa Naik.

The BJP candidates who became victorious include Kusuma, Dayananda Gowda, Gunavathi Doddakopla, Akshatha Manimunda, and Mohan.
