Daughter of accused granted bail in woman’s death case in Kochi

The Paravur Magistrate Court on Thursday granted bail to Deepa, a native of Kottuvally, who was arrested by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Asha Benny, a neighbour of the accused. Deepa was granted bail even as her parents, Pradeep Kumar, a former police driver, and his wife Bindu, both arraigned as accused in the case, were absconding. The trio were booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of Asha by allegedly harassing and threatening her over a loan she borrowed from them.

“The court has granted conditional bail to Deepa and search is on for the other accused,” an investigation officer said. Deepa was arrested from Kaloor on Wednesday night.
