BJP member V. Sunil Kumar on Thursday claimed the Congress government had released ₹240 crore to Speaker U.T. Khader’s constituency in Mangaluru for road repair works, but denied funds to other constituencies under the NABARD’s rural infrastructure fund.
Speaking in the Assembly on the development during the last 27-month tenure of the government, Mr. Kumar claimed that the government has been denying funds to undertake road repairs as rural and urban roads were damaged following excess rains. He said the development in the State was “zero during the Congress regime”, and not a single house had been allotted to the poor.
Intervening, Mr. Khader justified the funds provided by the Public Works Department (PWD) for taking up road works in his constituency.
The Azim Premji Foundation has been providing eggs to schoolchildren for six days a week, but it has now decided to give them only for three days following the mismanagement in the distribution by the government officials, Mr. Kumar alleged.
