Uttar Pradesh Congress president Ajay Rai on Friday accused the State government of “remaining a mute spectator” and failing to address the acute shortage of fertilizers for kharif crops, which he claims has led to black marketing and immense distress for farmers across the State.
He warned that if the issue is not resolved immediately, the party’s State unit will join hands with farmers to gherao District Collectorates in the State.
The State Congress chief also highlighted the plight of teachers in the State and said the party would fight to resolve their issues. “The State’s education system has fallen prey to corruption. Secondary school teachers and degree college teachers are protesting over various problems. In the primary education department, corruption has reached its peak. Teachers of unaided schools are neither getting respectable salaries nor is their job secure,” he said.
The State Congress president added that the party has appointed Dr. Amit Kumar Rai as the coordinator and Professor Shravan Kumar Gupta as the co-coordinator of its Teachers’ Cell, which will work to find solutions to the problems faced by teachers. “We will together strengthen the teachers’ movement in the State,” he said.
