Merging nomadic communities to allocate internal reservation among SCs opposed

Criticising the State Cabinet’s decision to approve internal reservations matrix with 6:6:5 formulas disregarding the report of Justice H.N. Nagamohan Das, members of Dalit Sangharsh Samiti alleged injustice in the allocation of internal reservation to nomadic and semi-nomadic communities.

Addressing presspersons here on Friday, samiti State convener Arjun Bhadre opposed the merger of nomadic communities alongside powerful communities and termed it as social injustice.

Mr. Bhadre demanded that the State government consider the recommendation made in the Nagamohan Das report and accord 1% reservation for nomadic communities.

Madiga Samanvaya Samiti

The members of Madiga Samanvaya Samiti (Dalit left groups) welcomed the Cabinet’s move to provide an internal reservation to 101 castes. While they have expressed displeasure over restructuring internal reservation matrix providing 6% for Dalit-right communities and said that they would continue to fight for more reservation among the Scheduled Castes.
