The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association staged a dharna at Tirur on Friday (August 22) evening, demanding the immediate intervention of the State government to control the spiralling prices of essential commodities.

Association State vice president P.P. Abdurahman inaugurated the dharna. He warned that hoteliers and restaurateurs would be forced to launch an agitation if the government did not intervene in the market to check price rise, especially as Onam is round the corner.

Association Tirur unit president Sabka Ameer presided. District president C.H. Samad delivered the keynote address. Association leaders P.A. Bava, K.T. Raghu, Eastern Nisar, P. Ahamed, Samad Pleasant, K. Anil Kumar, Sangam Mani, P.A. Rasheed, Zeenath Jaleel, C. Mammi, and Suresh Ponnani spoke.
