Stray dog menace

Not a day passes without media reports on stray dog bites affecting innocent people, especially children across Tamil Nadu, and Tirunelveli is no exception to the stray dog menace. Stray dogs roam freely through the streets, and a large pack was recently seen at Anna Stadium in Palayamkottai while players were practicing. The authorities concerned should take action to address the issue and ensure the safety of the public, especially children and those using the Anna Stadium in the morning and evening.

Speed check

The Thoothukudi-Tiruchendur road was recently repaired. However, instead of enjoying a smooth ride, many four-wheelers are using it like a speed-track leading to accidents. To address the issue speed restrictions should be enforced from Palatakayal to Mullakadu. Vehicles that violate these speed limits should be monitored using electronic surveillance and penalties should be imposed.

Plastic pollution

Every day tonnes of plastic waste are being cleared from canals and drainage connections under the Thoothukudi Corporation, obstructing proper flow of water and sewage disposal and ultimately affecting public hygiene. Citizens must cooperate with the awareness campaign launched by the Thoothukudi Corporation and avoid dumping plastics into waterbodies.

Nagercoil.
