Former Director of the Archaeology and Museums in the united Andhra Pradesh, P. Chenna Reddy, has been elected as the president of Puducherry World History Congress (PWHC). The event was held from August 22 to 24 with the theme ‘Reimagining Historical Narratives in a Changing World’ at the University of Peradeniya in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Chenna Reddy delivered the presidential address titled “The Mediaeval and Modern silk routes – changing Maritime, Martial and Marital alliances” during the inaugural function of the event.

Terrence Madhujith, Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, A.H.M.H Abayarathna, Minister for Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government, were among those present at the congress. Osmund Bopearachchi, Director of Research of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS ENS, Paris), Prabhath Ekanayake, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, Rohita Dasanayaka, Head of the Department and local secretary of the congress, and 200 delegates participated.

During the event, Mr. Chenna Reddy’s felicitation volumes titled ’Kalyana Mitra: A Treasure House of history, culture and archaeological studies Volume XI Contemporary History and Diaspora, Volume XII Tourism, Volume IX Trade, Commerce and Economy’, which were edited by Katta Narasimha Reddy, former Vice-Chancellor of JNTU Hyderabad, noted archaeologist Emani Sivanagi Reddy, and K. Krishna Naik, former Vice-Chancellor of Rayalaseema University, were released by the guests.
