Dramatic scenes unfolded in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA clashed with the District Collector at the latter’s residence with reports claiming that the MLA attempted to strike the official.

The alleged incident took place on Wednesday (August 27, 2025) when Bhind MLA Narendra Singh Kushwaha, along with some local farmers, went to Collector Sanjeev Shrivastava’s official residence to complain about the shortage of fertilisers in the district, leading to heated arguments between the two, even as farmers continued their sloganeering against Mr. Shrivastava.

A purported video of the incident has also gone viral on social media, showing Mr. Kushwaha and Mr. Shrivastava engaged in a heated exchange of words at the entrance of the Collector’s residence.

The video shows the MLA trying to enter the residence premises while security personnel stand between him and the Collector. During the argument, Mr. Shrivastava is seen pointing a finger at the MLA after which the latter is heard saying “you don’t know me” while seemingly trying to charge at the Collector with a punch.

When Mr. Shrivastava says that he “will not allow theft of sand (illegal sand mining)”, Mr. Kushwaha is heard accusing him of being the “biggest thief” and “allowing extortion through private persons”.

After the Collector retreats inside the residence, the protestors continued to raise slogans against him and staged a sit-in outside the gate.

Later speaking to reporters, Mr. Kushwaha said, “People are not getting fertilizers. Women are getting troubled. Is he [the Collector] Hitler?”

Reacting on the matter, Leader of Opposition and Congress MLA Umang Singhar targeted the government over the fertilizer shortage.

“It is very unfortunate that the BJP MLA entered the Bhind Collector’s bungalow and tried to threaten him and raise his hand. But it is also a fact that farmers of the entire State are troubled about fertilizers,” he said.

“Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and his administrative officers are constantly refusing to listen to the public representatives and farmers. The result of this is that today, despite being in power, the BJP MLA had to enter the Collector’s residence and threaten him regarding the fertilizer problem,” the Congress MLA added.
